Hi guys, title is pretty self explanatory.

I'm working on a sisters of silence force that will be part of my larger Talons army alongside my Custodes (link below)

http://heresy30k.invisionzone.com/index.php?/topic/8853-garros-talons-of-the-emperor-army/

as many of you will Know my Talons army is being set in the Webway war, by using the AoS scenic bases painted purple; and my Sisters detachment will be following the theme as well. The sisters of silence element I want to be able to run as part of an overall talons list, or be able to function fully as a pure army or allied detachment for another of my armies. I've got my 2.5k army list written and will be following this as my list to buy until I finish it, or new units/options become available.

*all acqusitors have extra armour added.

this rounds out a 2.5k list with 95 models, which is a damn sight more than my regular 2.5k custodes lists (20-25 models).

I've got my first 5 ladies finished to test the scheme and here they are.

I orginally struggled to make them different from the Custodes (considering they're a completely different faction and organisation) but keep them looking like an actual army together. I've settled on that I'll be doing the same bases, and painting the leather and silver metals the same as well. I'll also be painting any power weapons the same as the custodes with the purple wash to link them together.

I've also converted my own Knight-centura out of a spare Inquisitor Greyfax model, and some spare sisters of silence parts. I've also swapped out the blade with one from a grey knights kit to convert the blade into a more appropriate looking Paragon blade. she will also be on occasion be counting as jenetia krole as she's got the same weapon loadout. D3 scouting custodes squads is too good an opportunity to pass up on often.

I've also got another 5 vigilators, and a ten women squad of prosecutors, and witchseekers built and ready for painting, this will be as big as my army gets for the moment; as I want to use as many actual FW kits as possible for the various units and wargear.

Like it. Going to be bloody expensive to buy with all those Acquisitors though, I'd expect them to be 70-80 quid.

Only real change I'd make is to give the Excuciatus Cadre either Stake Crossbows or Power Weapons, not both. Unless you have a cunning plan to somehow make them relentless, those Crossbows are Rapid Fire. I'd either go with all Crossbows or with all Assault Needler and Power Weapons. I'd also be tempted to only give some of the Oblivion Knight Cadre Power Axes - perhaps 4-5 in a squad of 10 - keeps the price down and the base Execution Blades are pretty damn good anyway.

And if you're going to be mixing things up with the Custodes, I'd try and fit a Nuncio-vox on each of those Prosecutor Cadres. You've already got one for free on the Silent Judge, but a couple more would help any deep striking Custodes. I've been wondering how I'd go about modelling voxes, but haven't come up with any good ideas yet. You could possibly convert the Greyfax backpack, but that's not very in keeping with the rest of the models. Not strictly necessary on the Silent Judge since she's likely to modeled differently from the rest of the Excuciatus Squad, but definitely needed for the Prosecutor Cadres, because you need to know which model has it equipped. Have you had an good ideas on this that I could steal?

well they're going to be far cheaper than the Cronus transports, and see for more use being as the sisters combat and short range units (basically the army) will need them to reach their targets without dying too much. so to me they'll be worth it.

want them to be able to deal with mix of targets as i'm not sure on their battlefield use just yet, plus I have some regular opponents who use a lot of psykers, so the stakes are good for that. plus I can convert the crossbows ATM far easier and quicker than the needlers.

regarding the oblivion knights, I expect the design ideas FW have in mind are these gals

sistersofsilence-104.jpgso I fully expect the kits to come with all power axes, plus rule of cool. a Pure sisters force isn't going to win many games in the standard meta to begin with, so I'm not too fussed about micro managing this list. (too much high army vehicles and deathstars that the sisters can't deal with).

was thinking about this yesterday, as I tested out a mixed 2.5k list with all my sisters and filling up on custodes. will probably get myself an additional pack of sisters to create some spares as so not to have to include the voxs when their not useful. thinking of just getting some regular marine backpacks with the nuncio-voxs and trimming the vents of the sides and making them look like regular backpacks. but for the moment, not sure, might look at some 3rd party backpacks online before settling on anything.

gotten all thirty odd's basic armour done, just working on 5 vigilators and the knight-centura ATM. not making much progess as other projects and general lack of time cuts into them.

think the soon-ish release of the twin-bolt pistol and transport kits might bring the gals back to the front of the painting queue. but I did (accidentally) buy one of the new thunderhawks, so that's taking priority for the foreseeable future.

finally made some progress after getting side tracked by several different projects.

here's the finished Knight-centura/Krole 'count as' and the 2nd half of my 1st Vigilator squad.

so here's the finished 10 woman squad alongside the Knight-Centura, which I can now take in my Talons Army to help booster the body count.

going to work on some prosecutors next to operate as back field objective holders as they're dirt cheap for a 10 model troops choice that's fearless (compared to regular custodes anyways).  Going to get my 1st Kharon Acquisitor at the Open day and some of the boltpistol upgrade arms. going to have a 10 woman squad of them as standard, then going to get some additional sets down the line, to create sergeants and other units as the arms will be great bases for weapon swaps to create the missing units.

Got your child-stealing wagons yet?

no, but getting one tomorrow at the open day, got 6 in the 2.5k list, so going to pick one up as and when i finish painting the squad that's going to go in one. was going to pick up a couple more, but the new custodes releases are taking a bigger bit out of my wallet than expected.

PROGRESS!

Brought a Kharon Acquisitior as the Forge World Open Day the Other day amount a few (a lot) other things.

went with the scheme from the FW site, but adjusted it to match my Webway War based Talons army. So it got a purple wash mixed in with the various Black washes. Also decided to keep the scheme simple, as such practially everything is done with washes and drybrushing, to keep it quick and simple, as I'll eventually be painting at least another 5 of these (got 6 in my 2.5k list)

Here's a few extra photos of it with some sisters for scale.

Closed front for when there is an embarked unit

open front, for when its empty

going to need to figure out a system for telling them all apart, that fits the fluff, as keeping track of which ones got which unit in it will be tricky.
