"We thought the Nails would bring us closer to him. We thought they would show our love for him. The Nails took our love, our compassion, and turned them to hate and anger and rage. They bite and they stab and they goad and we lose ourselves.
And we do not care.
We are truly our fathers children, for he does not care either. Both of us, lost to the Nails. But only one of us chose this."

So I've been lurking around here for some time without really contributing anything to the boards, that changes tonight. I've been working on my 12th legion for a while now and I've been updating a plog semi regularly on the B&C but felt I was at a point that I had enough to present on here too.

When I started out on the project I wanted to be able to play through the Istvann campaigns in their entirety (something that is yet to happen) and with that in mind I have been slowly working toward an orbital assault force that would represent Angron and his boys making planet fall and laying waste to the loyalists. So far I have been predominantly painting infantry which has left me woefully under powered against the heavier weapons and massed tanks of the majority of heresy armies and so I have started adding some of these elements in.

Anyway onto some pictures.

I thought I'd start with Angron himself. After painting a chunk of infantry this guy was a joy to paint and I'm pretty pleased with how he turned out.

These guys are the first tactical squad that I painted and the beginning of a massive change in my painting style.

That's all for this first post as I don't want to bombard anyone with too many pictures, but I've got loads of images ready to go up and I shall post them up as soon as possible.

Thanks for looking.

Looking good. I can sympathise with not having the heavier equipment; like you I'm doing an Orbital Assault list and working through my infantry and drop pods first. Almost done with those and ready to move onto some more fun equipment. Keep going though, it does all pay off in the end.

They look fantastic!  I really like your style of clean-but-weathered white.

Thanks again guys, I'm glad you like them so far. Here's some more.

These guys form the second ten man tactical squad for my orbital assault list and form up with the other ten for foot slogging lists.

This is the first of my two assault squads. Sadly they don't see enough action on the table top as I don't seem to be able to figure out how to use them properly.

I like that it seems each model has its own character and unique specifically that assault squad. You could build up a whole story about each one and each squad.

Nice! I really like the colour palette, nice and muted. Assault marines are tricky to get effective on the battle field. Please post your experiments and thoughts on them, I'm trying to figure them out as well

Keep up the good work!

Thanks guys. I found that I really enjoyed using the assault marines when I first started playing 30k. At that point the games were smaller and more infantry based but as bigger guns and heavier tanks have been introduced into our gaming group I've found that they get killed far to easily and while playing in a thematic way is most important for me I got a bit tired of just taking them off the table.

I've found most of the lists I right now don't have the assault marines which is a pain considering that I have two squads.

The brass helmed sergeant is one of my favorite miniatures in the force. I spent an evening jumping off the sofa trying to figure out the positioning.

And this is my berserker Praetor that I run with them.

Thats all for tonight folks, I hope you enjoy the models and thanks again for taking the time to look.

Awesome work, especially liking the assault squad! And as a BA player I feel your pain with regards removing droves of dead assault dudes from the table.

Just wait for our rules, brother. If any legion is going to make assault marines good it will be ours. I mean, just look at what the Imperial Fists did to breachers. Fingers crossed.

Thanks Grey, and may I say how impressive your blood angels are!

As I intend to be able to run a large orbital assault force I thought I better share some of my drop pods.

That's the pods painted so far but I do have three dreadclaws in production.

Very nicely done. What are you using to shade? Or is it just highlights?

Your Angron is amazing man. One of the best I've seen so far. Well done.

Thanks Panzer. I've only been running them as 10 man squads as bigger units are harder to hide. Shading wise its a mix of 2 pots lamian medium 1 pot asurman blue 1 pot badab black and then re highlighted with white.
