The Infernus turned up last night as I ordered it separately. It's currently soaking and I'm hoping to have it built by tonight. I will start a Blog on here to show progress.

You're a good man PA. As they say. Boys join the Astartes. Real men join the Auxilia.

Just pointing out that the Macharius Vanquisher isn't necessarily a Solar Auxilia vehicle, given that they tend to operate a small, specific number of hulls.

If you're still not sold on SA, you could also take two Macarius Vanquishers in an Imperialis Militia army, where they fit in quite well as indigenous super-heavy tanks...

Does anyone have examples of painted Solar Auxilia? They don't seem to be a popular army on the interwebs

You may have to forge new ground - we are all waiting with bated breath! No pressure ;)

I was thinking Black armour and Khaki fatigues like the examples below

http://taleofpainter...troops.html?m=1

http://taleofpainter...-robes.html?m=1

Following that though I want the Tanks to have Camo and I'm awaiting the airbrush stencils to arrive. Using Vajello Burnt Umber and chipping fluid I should be able to give the Tanks a worn view.

Orc Paint Nerd does a fantastic video on chipping fluid.

I've had a bad back but have nearly finished building the Malcador Infernus

I`m starting my SA next year, with the escalation league the forum is running. Having 4000 points unpainted stuff lying around for ages, I thought it would be a good opportunity to start with the league.

Also you´re right, there are too few SA projects out there. I´m going with the Chtonian headhunters.

I was thinking of doing them as I could use them as allies to my Sons of Horus but I don't want to tie the army into one faction and the oh these are Loyalists now because reasons doesn't work for me haha

I took a nosey and your black is amazing.

Is it really that simple Black to White Zenithal with a blue wash on the black? It looks more metallic in your pictures than that.

Yes sir. But any color could be used to saturate the black. With your color scheme you can do the coelia green shade wash. Then more black washes over that. Take a few washes. But totally not metallic!

If I were to do a black army from scratch, I'd consider doing it this way:

Black base
Airbrush dark grey,
Possibly air brush lighter grey in certain areas ( not many) - so sides etc.
Blend/crop areas that may have gotten too saturated.
Edge highlights but only on areas to balance out lighting.

Looking forward to seeing a blog on yours.
