Im looking to do either solar or militia. Ive seen models from anvil whose martian fusiliers models are really similar to fw ones. I wanna aak what are people views on usig other models to represent them ? Im asking because i cant dish out the fw prices for the basic troops. I can do it for the tanks but not for all the troops.

Do a search on the forum mate, I've posted loads of possible alternative militia miniatures over the last 2 years.

Been thinking about this very topic myself.

I am in two minds...

1) FW price are actually pretty good for these - you get lots of detailed troops for your buck. And they are kinda cool.

2) 3rd party stuff is more flexible, allowing for more poses, different weapons/heads, but will ultimately cost roughly the same, give or take.

So the big question you need to ask yourself - do you have the skill and time to pull off a cool looking custom army? (Well, thats the question i am asking myself anyway).

Here is my list of thoughts and options (unedited), so make of it what you will.....I think the AnvillIndustries regiment builder looks awesome - i have a few ideas for squads that will work for both 30K and 40K. The other bits are just thought - ideas on paper, so.......

These are quite nice but would probably need some work for certain units. I keep looking at these myself.

How much converting would tempestus scions take? Dropping the backpack for some sort of power plant seems neccesary.

The back pack does have a power plant but at £17 for 5 you might as well buy Solar Auxilia Models.

I made some out of Genestealer Cultists and Mechanicum heads. It's a relatively cheap conversion I suppose, depending on how easily you can get hold of cultists...
