I was watching the podcast from Reece at Frontline Gaming and he basically said stop trying to compare things as they are now to what they are in 8th ed because it is essentially an entirely new game. Expect most of the rules as we know them to be rebalanced/changed, I expect they will keep the flavour from 30k but everything else will be different and function differently.

Yeah, I am laughing at a lot of the comments about how new and fresh some thing is when i remember very similar stuff from 20 years ago.

On the plus side the new edition should be fun.

The multiple wounds
Minuses to armour
Minuses to hit if you move
Different movement values

It's Second Edition 2.0

Ok...ok...I've always hated Storm Bolters as I think they are a great concept but their rules are crap (Should be 3 shots or something)..

But with a Combi-Combi Bolter in 30k...Is that now 4 shots? Has anyone seen anything?

Storm Bolters should have some advantage over a normal bolter in terms of firepower ..

Nah you are missing, the Terminator Praetor, on a Multi-melta Jet-bike, with a Vortex Grenade, and a cycle terminator missile launcher on the back, with a Cyber Familiar, Cyber Eagle and a servo arm.

back in 2nd you could put a Eversor Assassin (in termie armour) on a bike, with a vortex grenade......

2nd edition ELDAR were ridiculous - Eldrad could nuke half your army ON HIS OWN!!! 218pts for like an average return of 800pts....He used kill infantry within range with his mind...

2nd edition Space Wolves - when everyone could have assault Cannons was ridiculous.

3rd edition Necrons were almost unstoppable if you played them right.

3rd Edition Daemons had a Siren Prince build, where they would batter you in CC and you couldn't shoot at them if they were in the Open. You literally got wrecked even with a dedicated CC Army.

5th Edition Grey Knights are an all-time crazy build.

Indeed. And I have the Codexs sitting just to my right hand on the bottom shelf of my display cabinet. I even have The Virus Bomb card that decimated anything non-spacemarine.

How many people took All Wolf guard in Terminator Armour with Assault Cannons on each guy?

Only the cheesemongers :P

Sorry to bring the math thing up again. But I just wanted to resolve this issue.

The math for both sides of the debate are actually correct. The issue is the vagaries of the english language.

You are each discribing a different measure. @Spudasaurus is discribing the likelihood of a die roll scoring a success. Which he is correct the likelihood of an individual die once rolled scoring a success doesn't change.

The otherside is measuring the likelihood of scoring at least 1 success. Which does change as you add more dice/rerolls.

So you are both incorrect :)

Just joking everyone is right.

We just need the sustained fire dice and necromunda!

But I'm not sure how i'm reading the TL changes.  Is it double shots or double hits?

double shots, you still have to roll them all to hit.
